![]() I can see why they like him for being a leader, but he wasn't much of a bad-ass. The only reason he became anything was because in both cases he became their subordinate and inherited a large part of their kingdom when they died. It is pure fun to, as your army grows, see previously hostile generals becoming significant figures in your ranks, which of course, may sometimes have more or less direct impact on the state of your empire or unlock extra subquests. Moreover, they continue to play important part in the side stories after you've managed to" convince" them to join you. Takeda commanders, Asakura, Houjou Soun, Natori) - they frequently display a great deal of common sense and intelligence having their own, often unselfish goals and clearly defined worldviews. Rance may be staying our favourite compulsive rapist with a heart of gold throughout the game but many other characters are clearly not made to be comic reliefs only(e.g. The same can be said about many other characters. Not to mention that you get to see that Masamune is by no means a retarded pushover bent on world-domination but actually responsible and able leader concerned about the future of yukaii and their newly formed nation. ![]() Not only that, this scene along together with a couple of others contains very subtle hints about a way of obtaining info which would help with defeating him. ![]() Here, though, the player gets to know Masamune's character, motivations making it clear that he is to become a formidable opponent (indicating also at a possible boss fight). For instance in the case of Masamune in a ordinary weeaboo H-game as a "male" would only serve as a pretext for meaningless H-scene. You know, as much as lulzy Sengoku Rance is I just can't help but admire how it mixes comic relief with actually quite serious stuff going on and how the seemingly unimportant but funny events when you look at a bigger picture, start to make different sense.
